My absolute favorite coffee I’ve ever tasted!! I love the smokey flavor! I even drink it black…. and I NEVER have liked black coffee, its soooooo good! I’m about due for another bag… I make it in a coffee press so I get whole beans and bring them to a coarse grind and the flavor is so profoundly audacious and smokey like I’ve never experienced in a coffee before. I definitely highly recommend it!

I just HATE how all of the “local” coffee roasters are now calling their medium roasts “espresso” or “French.” Just because Stumptown doesn’t know how to roast for espresso (ask the Italians!) doesn’t mean everyone has to emulate them. As you can see this REALLY pisses me off. Thank Dog for Kicking Horse Kick Ass Dark Roast, because it is a REAL dark roast, suitable for a true espresso. LOVE this coffee. Used to pick it up when I visited Half Moon Bay, CA, and now can get it everywhere!

I like coffee. I’m not a person who needs to completely drown the taste of coffee with cream and sugar just to dish it, but i have never like black coffee. It’s always way too bitter so I’m usually someone who like ice and a serving or two of a light creamer, no sugar. That being said, this coffee is so good, I can drink it straight black. A small splash of creamer evens it out, but it’s not necessary. I highly recommend this! We accidentally bought whole bean without owning a grinder and the first batch, the grounds weren’t ground enough, and even watered down and super acidic the taste was excellent (though i do not recommend undergrinding the coffee, haha)

Best Coffee Ever!I’m always hesitant even if a product has great reviews so I tried it out myself.I got the “Kicking Horse Coffee, Kick Ass, Dark Roast.”I’ve been trying out different coffee and this one and Lavazza are best.I actually think I like this better though because it really is FRESH. Just opening it was a beautiful smell. It did not smell rancid like other coffee beans or have a sour taste.I love how it has a deep dark slightly bitter (NOT sour or acidic) taste. Kind of like semi-sweet or dark chocolate. It left a “clean” feeling. If that makes any sense it’s like having a homemade cookie vs a processed cookie. One tastes good and make you feel good after while the processed tastes good but after makes you feel sick.I have a sensitive stomach so this was AWESOME. It did not give me cramps or a headache!Definitely going to be my number one pick. :)I grinded 10g coffee beans in my Epica burr for 5 seconds to achieve a medium-coarse texture.I measured out 6oz. of fresh filtered water and placed it all together in my Moka Pot under medium heat.I like 50/50 of coffee and milk.So happy to find a coffee that met all my expectations. Dark, bold, not acidic/sour, doesn’t upset stomach and is fresh and affordable! Woohoo!

This is dark and smooth and always seems very fresh. We grind and brew from whole beans in a supeautomatic espresso machine for our regular morning coffee. Kicking Horse Roast is less smoky and the beans are not quite as oily as our top favorite French roast brand, but I’m a strong black coffee lover and I find it delicious and rich. I buy it regularly to alternate with my other favorite. I have been very happy with its consistency and quality and value for the price.

I recently bought some pricey beans from another vendor that were rated with scores of 90+ at a respected coffee review site. And they were quality beans. However, I could not make them work with drip, just had a sour edge no matter how fine I ground the beans. Crazy good flavor with pour-over, but I don’t have time to do that every day. Kicking Horse Kick Ass works great with a drip machine. Smooth, low acidity, flavorful. Beans are fresh. I give it a slight edge over Grizzly Claw. But Grizzly Claw had a smokiness lacking in Kick Ass, so if that rocks your boat, go for that. I would recommend either as a dark roast that doesn’t empty your wallet.

I do not not like coffee without a ton load of flavored creamer, but now that I’m counting calories I need to find ways to cut them. I am not about to give up my daily source of caffeine so I knew I needed to find a coffee that tasted alright on it’s own. I’m sitting down to my first cup of coffee with nothing but unsweetened almond milk and I have to say I cannot believe coffee can taste this good on it’s own. If you are looking for a delicious coffee that doesn’t need to be masked by any creamer or sugar this is what you’re looking for.

The only dark roast coffee I’ve ever bought that actually tastes good. Now I just don’t like dark roast coffee. It does not agree with me. This stuff does. Now I bought the coffee that was underground, whole bean. It is simply delicious, easy on the stomach, and not too high in caffeine you know the name may say differently. I recommend it as a coffee connoisseur. Very smooth.

I’m a bit of a coffee aficionado and I was pleasantly surprised by how good this coffee is. I prefer a dark roast and this all the right notes. It’s a little smoky, smooth and rich with no bitterness and acidity. They say it’s “audacious”…I can’t attest to that.I recommend it.
